Matchday

Delete your account

Matchday is published on Google Play by Shygo.Dev. This page explains how to delete your Matchday account and exactly what happens to your data when you do.

Delete it from inside the app

This is the fastest way and it takes effect immediately. No email, no waiting.

  1. Open Matchday on your phone and make sure you are signed in.
  2. Tap Settings, the last of the four tabs along the bottom.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  4. Read the confirmation, then confirm. Your account is removed straight away.

If you cannot open the app

If you have uninstalled Matchday, lost the phone, or can no longer sign in, email info@matchday-tracker.com and ask for your account to be deleted.

Send it from the email address on the account, so we can tell it is you. If you cannot, tell us the name your group knows you by and roughly when you joined, and we will find another way to confirm it is your account before we touch anything. We will not delete an account on the word of somebody who cannot show it is theirs.

We reply within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

What is removed, and what stays

Removed

  • Your email address
  • Your profile picture
  • Your nationality and profile details
  • Your sign-in identity, deleted at Clerk, our authentication provider
  • The push notification tokens for your devices
  • Any fitness and location data recorded from your watch

Kept

  • The matches themselves: dates, scores and results
  • Goals, assists, appearances and awards recorded during those matches
  • Votes cast for Players' Player

Your display name is replaced with "Deleted account" everywhere it appeared, so nothing left behind identifies you.

Why the match history stays

A match record belongs to the group, not to one person. Erasing your goals would change other people's results, other people's records and the final scores of games they played in. So the matches remain, with your name taken off them.

If you want your football record itself removed and not just detached from you, say so in your email. That is a conversation with your group's organiser rather than something we do quietly on one person's behalf.

How long it takes

Deleting from inside the app is immediate. An emailed request is actioned within 30 days.

After that, routine encrypted database backups may still hold the previous version of your details for a short period before they are overwritten in the normal backup cycle. Those backups are never read except to restore the service after a failure.

Before you delete

If you want a copy of your data first, open Settings, then Data and privacy, then Export your data. That saves everything we hold about you to a file on your phone. Deleting the account does not give you a copy afterwards.

If your only concern is the usage data the app collects, you do not need to delete anything. Turn off Share usage data in Settings, under Data and privacy. It works without an account and takes effect immediately.
